SGE Datalogger
The SGE Datalogger is the device we designed and produce in-house: the point where the plant begins to talk to the Operations Center. It acquires the electrical parameters from each field node and transmits them securely to the SunGuard cloud.
In the field
Device
It connects to inverters, meters, grid analyzers, field panels, Central Plant Controllers and BESS storage systems. A local buffer protects the data in case of connectivity loss; the firmware is updated remotely.
Not a third-party adapter: the physical heart of SunGuard monitoring.
Compatibility
The driver library covers more than fifty-five brands and 3,651 devices, including installations from the last twenty years. It communicates natively via Modbus RTU/TCP, RS-485, SunSpec — the open standard for photovoltaics — IEC 61850 and the proprietary protocols of the leading manufacturers.
No lock-in: if a device is not yet on the list, the team assesses its integration together with the project.

Scalability
It is possible to use up to 100 dataloggers on the same plant in Master-Slave mode. In this configuration a Master datalogger collects data from all the Slave dataloggers on the network and transmits them as a single flow to the SunGuard Energy platform — simplifying communication and reducing the number of external connections. The number of available serial ports and the ability to distribute the dataloggers across the plant make it possible to optimize the wiring and cover installations of any size.
CCI
The Datalogger Interface Multiprotocol is the interface between the Central Plant Controller and the PV plant. The Central Plant Controller sends commands to the Datalogger Interface Multiprotocol, which translates them and transfers them to the inverters present on the plant; conversely, it collects the plant's data and makes it available to the Central Plant Controller in a uniform format. In this way the Central Plant Controller is relieved of the burden of knowing the protocols, brands and models of inverters present on the plant.
Tailor-made
For special projects, ad hoc versions are developed (Nx models). When the standard architecture is not enough — due to connectivity requirements, number of ports, integration with proprietary systems or certified environments — the SunGuard Energy engineering team designs a custom variant, keeping the same software platform and full compatibility with the monitoring ecosystem.
